Some call Spina Bifida patients the "Canaries in the coal mine" of the medical world. The reason being, that people with Spina Bifida have to avail themselves of so many doctors in so many medical disciplines that if there is a problem with a particular medical center, that problem may very well show up amongst the SB community first.
