1) Kidney failure is the leading cause of death for SB patients over the age of 30

2) Kidney damage can occur without any signs or symptoms

3) Leaking of urine can be made better with medications or surgery.

4) Bowel accidents have the greatest impact on quality of life

5) Treatment of constipation is difficult but can be helped with medicine or surgery

6) Our goal is to get out of diapers!

7) Once a child has been catheterized, the urine always will have some bacteria

8) Don’t test urine unless the child has symptoms such as fevers or pain

9) Bad smelling urine is not accurate for diagnosing an infection

10) Kids and families must be pushed to understand personal hygiene and catheter teaching. Early independence!
